Bug Fest

Kid holding sign saying I ate a bug at the El paso ZooThe El Paso Zoo is excited to bring back Bug Fest this summer sponsored by Truly Nolen Pest & Termite Control!

Bug Fest will take place May 18 & 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Bug Fest celebrates all insects that are creepy, crawly, and crunchy! Guests will have the opportunity to interact with different bugs from all over the world and to even try some bug delicacies prepared by the Zoo's executive chef! Guests can enjoy live entertainment, arts and crafts, games, inflatables, educational lectures from El Paso community partners, and much more!

Visitors can come face-to-face with some of the zoo’s resident creepy crawlies in the large bug room. Both kids and adults will learn of the different types of bugs, their habitats, and their behaviors.

One of the highlights of Bug Fest is the bug cooking demonstration. Visitors will join Truly Nolen, local media celebrities, and El Paso Rhinos hockey team to learn how to cook and eat bugs, which are considered a delicacy in many parts of the world. Guests will enjoy exquisite cuisine samples that include scorpions, crickets, ants, and giant water bugs.

The Zoo is committed to providing educational experiences that inspire curiosity and appreciation for the natural world. By teaching people about bugs and their importance, the zoo hopes to foster a sense of environmental responsibility and a desire to protect these often misunderstood creatures.

A free event that promises fun, learning, and a chance to try some new and exciting foods. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience!
