Have you met Chuck?
Meet Chuck the Chuckwalla and other education animals as
a very important member of the El Paso Zoo - A Zoo Volunteer!
The El Paso Zoo needs volunteers of all kind
Whether it's caring for animals at the Zoo to traveling to schools and nursing homes for educational programs, a volunteer is an important part of the El Paso Zoo. The zoo's education department offers outreach and zoo programs for prekindergarten through fifth-grade students in all El Paso area schools. These programs allow both younger and older children to learn about nature and conservation and gives them the chance to see the education animals "up close and personal."
The zoo's education animals and volunteers also participate in special events such as summer camps, birthday parties, private parties held at the zoo and at many zoo functions.
Education animals include Chuck - the chuckwalla, a chinchilla, guinea pig, domestic rabbit, European ferret, short tailed opossum, white-eye duck, tortoise, python, bugs galore and many more…
Zoo volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
For more information about the zoo volunteer program, call 351-5340, and ask for Anne Langenfeld.
