Watermelon Wednesdays This August
August 12, 2014

Animals to Receive Treats all Month

Each Wednesday in August, Zoo residents will be offered a popular summertime treat. Zoo animals will enjoy Watermelon Wednesdays by munching on, crawling in or stomping on this juicy and sticky treat. This refreshing and delicious treat offers a versatile change of pace for the animals, enhancing their ever-changing enrichment program. Animal enrichment is provided to animals to provide mental and physical stimulation in their daily lives.

“Enrichment is offered daily to all animals, but watermelons add a juicy, sticky change of pace. It will be fun to see what each animal does with their treat,” said Carrie Trudeau, Animal Enrichment Coordinator.

The community is invited to join in on the fun by visiting the Zoo and watching the animals enjoy their sweet treat.

Visit the elpasozoo.org/event-calendar for a complete schedule.

The zoo is open daily from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ticket booth closes at 4 p.m. Admission prices are $6 for 3–12 yrs.; $10 for 13–59 yrs.; $7.50 for 60 yrs. & older; children 2 and under are free; active military and spouse with I.D. $7.50.
