Burrowing owls are loosing their homes in our area due to new development projects. The El Paso Zoo is helping these owls by working in partnership with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in building artificial nesting sites.

When owls need help with new places to call home we go to the area and dig trenches filled in with PVC pipe and a nesting box where the owls can move in and set up housekeeping.

In 2008 we built several new owl homes in the Lower Valley. One week later some owls moved in and soon after young owlets were seen.

How can you help?
