Scheduled Programs

Zoo Adventure Programs open up a whole new world of wonder and excitement. Enhance your zoo adventure with special animal programs, hands on activities and an inside look at the El Paso Zoo! Browse through the scheduled programs listed below and register for an adventure! More programs for schools and groups are listed on our On Demand page.

Important Notes: Tour experiences may vary. Participants must abide by staff instructions at all times and stay with the group leader. The Zoo strives for full and equal participation of all visitors and continually upgrades facilities to make them more accessible.

Endangered Sleepover , May 18, 2012 6pm-9am
There are over 10,000 animals on the Endangered Species list! Many animals have less than 50 individuals left in the wild. Learn about species such as the Mexican wolves, Amur Leopard, Siamangs, Asian elaphants and so many more that are endangered! Participate in fun activities to help out these animals in the wild. Also enjoy a jam packed time with a nocturnal tour, animal encounter, campfire, story time and behind the scenes tour! All you need is a blanket, cots are provided.

Ages 7 and up only. One paid adult present per 5 children. $30 nonmember $27 member. (Admission not included and not required). Registration by May 11, 2012 Required. Registration

Monthly Programs at the El Paso Zoo

Sleepover Adventures
6pm-9am
(Ages 7 on up)
Have you ever wondered what happens to the animals when everyone has gone for the day and the Zoo is closed? Find out! Bring your pillow, toothbrush, sleeping bag and spend the night at the zoo! The Sleepover Adventures run from 6pm to 9am and you can spend the next day exploring the Zoo.

Sleepovers include evening and early morning guided tours, live animal presentations, nighttime visits to see some of our animals (not all are available), animal related activities, become a scientist with radio telemetry and camera traps, campfire (when available) and a story. Light evening snacks and a morning continental breakfast are included. Comfy camp cots are provided in a temperature controlled building. Bathrooms are located in same building or close by but no shower facilities.

Morning Discovery
8am to 9:30am.
All ages but under 13 must be accompanied by a paid adult (1 adult per 5 children).

Enjoy the best time at the zoo with a personal VIP tour. An Education staff member will lead you on an hour and a half exploration of the zoo before it opens to the general public. View what no other visitors see when you watch the animals come out on exhibit first thing in the morning and enjoy their enrichments! Enrichments are items we provide our animals with to bring out their natural behaviors such as plastic balls, paper mache with scents in it and other toys. Find out what goes on behind the scenes at the zoo while an education staff member leads you through where all of the diets are prepared for the animals. Lots of walking on this tour so wear close toed comfortable shoes. No cameras allowed behind the scenes but make sure to bring your camera to catch the animal enrichments!
