Group Programs

Zoo Adventure Group Programs are available upon request. Most programs require advance notice of at least 2 weeks or more. Many Zoo Adventure Programs are also offered on as part of our Scheduled Public Programs in which you can register individually, as a family, or a small group. Scout troops, school groups, home school groups, religious groups, civic groups, family groups, individuals and friends can request Zoo On Demand Programs. All requests must meet the group minimums.

NOTE: Many Group Programs involve careful coordination with Keepers who work on tight schedules as they take care of the animals under their care. If you are late for your Zoo Adventure we may have to cut out portions of our planned itinerary.

Elephant Produce Hunt
Makes a great field trip upgrade
9:00am to 9:30am
(Ages 7 on up)

You and your class or family and friends can participate a 30 minute, behind the scenes tour that includes a very interesting and fun learning experience assisting elephant keepers in hiding fruits, veggies and more for our biggest living land mammals in the world, Asian elephants! After the food is hidden everyone then moves back into the main viewing area to watch the elephants find the food. Minimum group size 10, Maximum group size 20.

Registration- $5 per person in addition to entrance fees. $4.50 for El Paso Zoological Society Members.

Experience a Behind the Scenes Tour at the El Paso Zoo: Commissary, Animal Hospital and Animal Exhibit Area
Makes a great field trip upgrade
(Ages 7 on up)

This adventure is a great way for your students, family and friends to go backstage and meet our culinary staff and see how they prepare menus for our exotic animals. Participants will get the inside scoop on how our vet staff cares for our animals and an in-depth conversation with one of our keepers at an animal exhibit. Ages 7 and up only and 1 paid adult present per 5 children. Minimum Group Size 5, Maximum Group Size 20.

Registration: $15 per person in addition to entrance fees. $13.50 for El Paso Zoological Society Members.

Behind the Scenes Tour Super Deluxe Elephant Experience
(Ages 7 on up)

You, your family and friends can take a special behind the scenes tour of our elephant facility. The tour offers an opportunity to help give one of our Asian elephants a bath by doing some scrubbing and rinsing with a hose. Once the soap has been rinsed off and the elephant is clean, you will have a chance to touch it and find out what an elephant feels like. The experience also includes an opportunity to help our keepers feed the elephant her breakfast before she moves into the exhibit yard. Minimum group size 1, Maximum group size 5. (Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).

Registration - $200 for 1-5 people

Night Time Zoo
7:30-9:00 pm
6:30-8:00 after Labor Day
(Ages 7 and Up)

Bring your entire family and/or friends and explore the zoo after all the crowds have gone home. Enjoy an animal encounter; learn about our animal enrichment program and a nocturnal guided hike... all under the stars (weather permitting)! All ages. Under 13 must be accompanied by a paid adult (1 adult per 5 children). Minimum of 10 people and maximum of 20 people.

Registration - $15 per person (No entrance fee required). El Paso Zoological Society Members $13.50.

Important Notes: Tour experiences may vary. Participants must abide by staff instructions at all times and stay with the group leader. Scout Badge Programs
Earn your scout badge with up close experiences with animals during this 2 hour program! Bring your whole troup! The Zoo schedules both girl and boy scout programs at different times. Your troop can also request a special time and date just for you. Minimum group size 10, Maximum group size 30.

Registration- $15 per person in addition to entrance fees. El Paso Zoological Society Members $13.50.

Sleepover Adventures
(Ages 7 on up)
Have you ever wondered what happens to the animals when everyone has gone for the day and the Zoo is closed? Find out! Bring your pillow, toothbrush, sleeping bag and spend the night at the zoo! The Sleepover Adventures run from 6pm to 8am.

Sleepovers include evening and early morning guided tours, live animal presentations, nighttime visits to see some of our animals (not all are available), animal related activities, become a scientist with radio telemetry and camera traps, campfire (when available) and a story. Light evening and morning snacks are included. Comfy camp cots are provided and sleeping is done in a temperature controlled building. Bathrooms are located in same building or close by but no shower facilities.

Group sleepover requests must be a minimum of 20 people and maximum of 30 people. Ages 7 and up and at least 1 paid adult per 5 children. At least three weeks advance notice for your group preferred date is requested, and Roar and Snore Adventures are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. $30 per person. El Paso Zoological Society Members $27.00 per person. (Admission not included and not required).

Zoo Toddler Treks
(ages 3-4 years old)

You and your 3 or 4 year-old can learn all about Earth's animals! Our hour together will include opportunities to see animals up close and a classroom activity. Enjoy fun group playtime activities and a walk through part of the Zoo on a safari! Minimum Group Size 10 adults and 10 children.

Registration - $20 for one adult and one child, $10 each additional child or adult
