So you've been in El Paso for a while now and you're looking for something new… maybe even a little wild? How about getting into a staring contest with a pride of lions? Or catching an infectious smile as a family of meerkats shoot a curious glance your way?
It's not the typical El Paso experience, but, then again, visiting the El Paso Zoo is anything but typical. The park looks as though it was carved right out of the city, an expansive green space that is home to exotic animal species from around the world.
During the holidays the Zoo will be open regular winter hours except for an early closure on Christmas Eve (last tickets sold at Noon, grounds close at 1:00) and closed all day Christmas Day and New Years Day.
During the warm weather months (the zoo is open year-round because it’s warm almost all year around here), the Hunt Family Desert Spring offers a splashin' good time! This interactive water play area features dancing water, gushers, spray tunnels, tower sprays, pop-its and more. These different water patterns emitted by the spring are not only fun to watch but great for families to splatter around in to relax and cool down.
Get up close and personal with Aj, Bonsu and Juma, the zoo's three male giraffes! Feed them along with their zookeepers but watch out for their 15-inch long tongues because they will snatch the lettuce right out of your hand if you’re not paying attention! Our boys are friendly and truly enjoy the special treats given to them by their visiting friends and above all, they promise to provide a fun experience. Token Price: $3
